A Simple Web Testing Tool Aimed for Small Businesses by Google

2016 has proved to be the year of profound advancements, mainly in the technology sector, related to internet and shopping. As the world saw a recent boom in the usage of internet through smart devices and an uplift in online sale and purchase of items without going to the outlet altogether, various businesses across the globe have taken a shift towards website selling to save costs and increase overall profitability.

Google, specifically has been very active all throughout the time of the year passed till date in developing and rolling out newer algorithms and tools that are focused for the betterment of small businesses. The newest in the list of items that Google made available for small business owners is the new tool that is aimed at helping small and medium size businesses, and that determines how user friendly and well-built their websites are? Since mobile searches for websites surpassed the number of desktop searches in the last fall, therefore it has gotten critically important for the business owners to tweak their websites in the right way to ensure maximum traffic and thus maximum business development.

test tool

The new tool launched by Google is actually a website testing tool that is simple for everyone to use. A business owner is only required to type in the URL he wants to get inspected and the tool will score your site, and present you detailed reports and suggestions that you need to fix in your website for better visibility and user experience.

Google has already made available a number of web testing tools for businesses of different sizes and genre’s. The more famous ones are PageSpeed Tools, PageSpeed Insights and Mobile-Friendly Test. However, many of the earlier presented tools are directed towards the developers instead of the business owners themselves due to their high technical nitty grit ties. This new tool is targeted towards the business owners themselves, who may not have known about such a tool’s existence or who are not technical enough to use the other tools that requires high end technical knowledge to operate.

The new tool simplifies user interface of any website and shows their respective scores in Green (good), Yellow (fair) and Poor (red).

The idea to launch this tool is to let business owners know about the entire user experience their website is generating for their users, in lesser time than usual that other tools take to show results. The tool works for desktop and mobile version of the websites and provide measurable results for both.

The launch came at the time when Google was heavily focusing on transitioning its business to the mobile web and where it invested in new technologies like AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) which loads faster on mobile devices and uses lesser data. Google has also recently updated its search engine algorithms to benefit mobile friendly website more, as the users are also shifting towards the more usage of mobile phone for web browsing then desktop PCs. None the less, this new tool definitely offer quicker and newer insights for small business owners to benefit from and most importantly its free, so anyone and everyone willing to tweak their website for maximum benefit and seamless user experience for their customers can use it.
